“Josh is a brilliant singer-songwriter whose talent is beyond his years ... He has a look and sound that is perfect for today's marketplace, and I'm excited to see how his artistry develops in the years to come” - Hitmaker Evan Bogart
Born and raised in Gilbert, AZ, 19-year-old Josh Metzler has aspired to be a musician for as long as he can remember. First learning the piano at the age of 8 and then picking up the violin at 10, Josh has always been musically involved. He taught himself to play the guitar when he was 13, and began posting videos to YouTube not long after.
He now entertains an audience of over 36,000 YouTube subscribers, 26,000 Twitter followers, and 21,000 Facebook fans! Josh's YouTube videos have garnered over 3.1 million total views.
In March of 2011, Josh was featured on Michael Buckley's YouTube channel WHATTHEBUCK, which entertains an audience of over 1 million subscribers, via the segment Buck Factor, a segment devoted to promoting undiscovered artists on YouTube. Overnight, Josh gained 6,000+ subscribers and by May had hit 10,000 subscribers.
In July of 2011, Josh was one of only 12 kids who were chosen out of over 40,000 applicants to be the inaugural cast of Majors & Minors, a music reality TV show aired on The Hub Network (formerly Discovery Kids). Throughout the course the show, Josh had the incredible opportunity to work with some of the biggest names in the business, including Adam Lambert, Avril Lavigne, Will.i.am, Jennifer Hudson, Jordin Sparks, Brandy, Mike Posner, Leona Lewis, Ryan Tedder, Colbie Caillat, Sean Kingston, and world-renowned songwriter Claude Kelley.
He was also mentored week-to-week by some of the industry's most established writers and producers, such as Evan Bogart (songwriter for such superstars as Rihanna, Leona Lewis, Britney Spears, Adam Lambert, Pussycat Dolls, Keyshia Cole, Jason Derulo, Ke$ha, Enrique Iglesias, Sean Kingston, Hot Chelle Rae and Beyonce), Debra Byrd (vocal coach on American Idol for first 10 seasons), David Quinones (songwriter and vocal producer for Brandy, The Pussycat Dolls, Beyonce, Enrique Iglesias, Usher, and many more), and Paul Mirkovich (whose credits as musical director/keyboardist/vocalist include award winning artists like Pink, Christina Aguilera, Cher, Janet Jackson, INXS, Anastasia and Whitesnake).
In May of the following year, Josh auditioned in Austin, TX for FOX's The X-Factor USA: Season 2. He received a "yes" from all 4 judges (Simon Cowell, L.A. Reid, Britney Spears, Demi Lovato), and was off to Boot Camp in Miami. Eliminated as a solo artist in the final rounds of Boot Camp, Josh and four other contestants were brought back to form a group that would later become known as Playback. The group advanced to the Judges' Homes round as one of the Top 24 acts in the nation, and were mentored by judge Simon Cowell. Despite overwhelmingly positive viewer reception, the group did not advance to live shows.
Josh has been blessed with incredible opportunities and is inexpressibly grateful that he has been given such unsurpassed platforms that have continually allow him to share his music on greater and greater levels. Josh has worked hard and practiced countless hours to get to this point, but could not have done it without the help, love, and support of his family, friends, and fans. Thank you all for your continued unwavering support!
